July Wrap-Up

Hello friends, long time no chat! Life’s been crazy and I’ve gotten a TON of reading in. So, what’s been hitting my kindle and audiobooks this month?! I won’t do a summary for these because well, Amazon and Goodreads exist, but here are a few thoughts on my July reads. And spoiler alert, they’re all good 😉

Broken Dolls – I honestly don’t know how I’ve slept on Kitty Thomas for so long. I loved this read as much as the first in the series. It was very different, and I honestly had no idea how it would resolve, but the ending was just as delicious as ever. THEN I discovered our MC’s have a little spinoff fun and I couldn’t be happier.

Rose in Chains – this book was incredible. The world Soto creates is brutal and complex, and the stories of perseverance and friendship had me hooked. I’m STILL swooning over our MMC and had the biggest book hangover after finishing. I read it on audio and the narrators were perfection.

Special Alpha Read – tbh, I’m too new to the alpha world to really know what I can and can’t post about and when, so better safe than sorry I think 😉. This read was so good and I can’t wait for it to come out later this year for all the world to enjoy!

All I Wanted Was To Become a Scientist But Now I’ve Got An Alien Boyfriend – this series is so fun. I was at the beach and SWORE I would read my ARC’s, yet somehow still ended up with this smutty, light, alien story. Not too light though – there was plenty of plot and interconnecting storylines that kept me entertained the whole way through.

Blood Lust – another beach read – and yes, I specifically picked it to be ironic (I don’t actually go IN the water so it’s fine..). This book was great. Pretty light on actual plot, which is exactly what I needed. I also did NOT expect the twist but loved it and the direction it took after revealing it. It was the perfect beach horror, and during shark week! Jackpot.

Burn for Jack – I’m not 100% sure what made me read this at the beach, in the middle of the summer, but it was an amazing short Halloween read! It had some horror, spice, and a whole lot of retribution. I’ve read others in the Holiday Horrors series, and now I’ll be going back to finish them off.

Piranesi – this was a tough one for me. It was a book club read and has been on our list for a while. I won’t lie, it took almost 40% of the book (I did audio, which might have been a mistake) to really get me hooked. It was a bit overcomplicated, and I really just did NOT resonate with the main character. That said, one it got going I was completely hooked. In the end, it was an intriguing read with a very unique twist. So idk, do what you will with that…

Terror at the Gates – IN.CRED.I.BLE READ! I was a bit mad at myself for reading this one before finishing the Hades x Persephone saga, but it was well worth it. This book had me absolutely hooked. St. Clair builds an amazing world and gives us beautiful characters and an action packed story (with a crazy cliffhanger!).

Ruthless Devotion – dare I say it; this was my favorite of the Gilded Monsters books so far!! It was nonstop from the start, and I loved every minute of it.

Brat Mode Activated – I’m literally obsessed with this book. It was hilarious, dramatic, and had a ton of spice. I might have become a brat for a few days whilst reading.. but don’t worry, I’m back again LOL.

PHEW. I also did a bit of alpha reading for a book in progress, but we’ll wait until release to talk about that one. I’m heading into August (omg what?!) with a bunch of ARC’s in queue and a TBR a mile long – YOLO.
