Charming Devil: Review

Hello first five star read of the year!!! This was also my first traditionally published ARC received from NetGalley, so it’s been a wild and exciting ride to say the least!

Highlights:
Dorian’s painting is dying, and him along with it. If he can’t convince Baz to make him a new one, what will become of the famous narcissistic philanderer?

Baz swore to never use her power – to never paint a portrait ever again. But can she withstand the charms of Dorian Gray? And can either of them survive the influx of supernatural activity that seems to surround them?

What I thought:
Literally, this book was epic. I don’t actually have any opinion one way or another on the original subject matter. Yes, I know the story of Dorian Gray, but I’m not really into the classics so I didn’t have any expectations going into this. I did read Kenney’s first book in the series, Beautiful Villain, and enjoyed it, but I wasn’t expecting the masterpiece that was book two. Charming Devil had me from the start. Our FMC is badass in her own right (looks and personality), and Dorian was perfectly portrayed as the narcissistic ahole the classics warned us about. BUT ON TOP OF THAT, we have some very extra side characters, an intriguing magical secondary plot, and a push and pull love story that was as infuriating as it was alluring. The ending, I swear to God, took years off my life and lead right back to book one and hopefully into another epic book three.
