The Butcher: Review

If you all would indulge me for just a few minutes, I’d like to gush ONCE AGAIN about the book community. I took a flying leap recently and applied to beta read for an author I’d never read (but was aware of) in a genre I’d never read. To my absolute surprise, she took a chance on me, and I was welcomed into a gorgeous community of readers passionate about someone I’m now deeply in love with (sorry, A.K., if you’re reading this I’M OBSESSED).

I’ve beta read twice before, and actually once simultaneously to this!, and am still just pinching myself that I get to read an authors work AS THEY WRITE IT, and work with them and others to get their story out the door. It’s such a cool experience, and not something I ever dreamed I could be doing.

UGH SORRY, now I’m crying… anyways, here’s my review of The Butcher by A.K. Graves. It was an absolute joy to beta read this, and I cannot wait for the series to continue.

Highlights:
Indy has seen some shit. Bram, Clay, and Nash have seen some shit. EVERYBODY IS GETTING FUCKED UP OVER IT. Also there is a lot of trauma and murder, but also love going on…

What I thought:
This book was a freaking emotional roller coaster! I went from cracking up one moment, to having a mental breakdown the next. I was anxious, I was upset, I felt murderous (BRAM, TALKING TO YOU) and elated – this book hit the whole spectrum. And I don’t think I’ve ever been more in love with a FMC. Indy is an absolute freaking badass and I personally would burn the world down for her if she didn’t have quite a few MMC’s ready to do it for her.

The world A.K. has created here is so unique and intriguing. I’m new to omegaverse, which probably had an impact, but I’m certain there isn’t much out there quite like this and I can’t wait to find out more – we’re just touching the surface here, people!
