I always feel so privileged to be able to ARC review a book. In this day and age of digital files it’s easy enough (I think?) for authors to send out copies, and I definitely feel privileged to receive one before it hits the shelves. I BLEW through Tylor Paige’s first Final Girls book, Slash or Pass, and knew this latest release would be just as good – spoiler alert, it was!
Highlights:
Long lost sister/heiress, dangerous amusement park, masked killer, sex, lies, drugs… this book has it all. Who is the killer? Killers? Everyone is dying – what is going on?!
What I thought:
One thing I love about Paige is that she’s really real. The beginning of this book basically reminds the reader that it’s a RIDICULOUS piece of fiction. It’s like, when you’re watching a horror movie and all you want to do is scream at the FMC to “call the police!” or “for god sake, do not go into the basement!,” that’s the energy this book exudes. Everything the characters do is infuriating, almost all of it is illegal, and the MMC’s are not the good guys you want to root for. Now, they ARE the hot guys you want to corrupt the sweet baby FMC, and (spoiler alert again) THEY DO, but this isn’t a fun little read about an amusement park. No, this is a whorror book, baby [seriously, the nickname alone makes me idolize the author – great books wouldn’t have even been a requirement].
Anyway, all that said, Knife, Comment, Share is just a super fun read. It’s fast paced – literally, most of the chapters are 4 min reads on my Kindle, and I just cannot rave about that enough! – it’s witty and fun, and it lives up to the “whore” in the name, trust me ;). Give it a read – as I’ve said before, it’s always spooky season if you try hard enough.
P.s. – this isn’t a deep book, it really isn’t. And yet… amongst the glorious fun that it IS, there were a few profound little gems. That’s the thing about books, huh.. they can have many layers. You might say they’re like onions… ok never mind, moving on..
I will leave you with my favorite quote. In a book about murder, sex, love and lies, this really hit me: “Staying alive for even one more day than you planned is one of the bravest things you can do.” <333
