Credence: Review

Ya’ll ready for a funny story? It’s not THAT funny, but this is my space so… ENJOY.

A few months ago a coworker told me about another coworker reading a spicy “incest” book that was just shaking her to the core. Of course that started a conversation – I hadn’t read the book, but we had a good laugh and ended up forming a bit of a book club at work (dreams DO come true). Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and another girl in book club asks about the SAME book – enter, Credence. I recognized the cover from BookTok but didn’t know anything about it, but boy, oh boy, do I know NOW.

Highlights:
Hollywood stars care about themselves more than their teenage daughter. They commit suicide and BOOM, she lands in the Colorado wilderness with her very hot step-Uncle and step-cousins she didn’t know existed.

TW’s/Tropes: group sex, sexual violence, dubcon, suicide

What I thought:
Let me first be clear – this book does not TECHNICALLY include incest. The FMC and MMC’s are not at all blood related and they had never met before the events in the book. So, we’re not talking like.. Ok, they technically weren’t related but she spent her childhood growing up with them – no. That said, this definitely would qualify for anyone who wants to see it through as a “step” kink, but for me, it was really just like reading about strangers.

With that out of the way, there’s still some familial sharing of a love interest that gets a little dicey L.O.L, but you know, it was a good read! The slow burn was real slow and when the spice kicked, it kicked up fast. The ending also ramped up hard, and then brought us back down with an unexpected ending. Overall, if you like the idea of a girl being stuck in the wilderness getting her flirt and sex on with some slightly related, but not, men – you’re in luck, this book is for you!
