Captured by the Cupid: Review

Guys, this was my first ARC review and I’m so excited!! I’ve been following author Emily Shore for a while now but wasn’t quite ready for her newly minted smut until recently. I picked up Kidnapped by the Krampus (my first monster read!) for the theme and gorgeous Christmas-y cover, so when I heard she was doing a Valentine’s Day book I had to jump on it. Plus, the FMC has pink hair, which I’ve been known to sport a time or two. So, now that it’s officially hearts season, let’s go.

Highlights:
He’s the angsty God of Love, she’s a sassy clairvoyant who gets caught in his net. We’ve got MF, MFM, MMF, BDSM, tons of sass, trauma-healing, more sass, and monster-y love-making. Basically, this book is just doing the most. In the Shore’s own words:

“If you love Valentine’s Day, you will love this book.
If you hate Valentine’s Day, you will also love this book!”

What I thought:
Omg I loved this book! First, let me just say how educational it was. As someone who’s always just WONDERED at certain things and found Google searches grossly insufficient, this book gave a lot of great context into its themes. It really dove into the BDSM world and trauma-healing, and for me it was just wildly intriguing (and entertaining!). I thought it was well written in general, but the humor GOT. ME – this book is funny! The FMC is full of fun and just RIPS the brooding MMC into pieces, which is always enjoyable, and it’s full of interesting side characters and some twists on Greek Mythology. The monster aspect isn’t as wild as it could be – there aren’t multiple body parts or fur or fangs (for the most part) – but enough to give another dimension to the story. I’ll certainly be staying tuned for the 3rd installment in the Roars and Romances series.
