Meet the Blogger

Now that we’re a few weeks into the new year, I thought I’d take a few minutes to tell you all a little bit about me!

My name is Megan, but I like to go by my alter ego Basic White Book on social media. I’m 29 years old (30 in two months OMG), and live in Chester County, Pennsylvania. I graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Organizational and Community Leadership, and I’m finishing up my MBA at Penn State. I work at Bentley Systems as a Marketing Programs Manager, and I’ve been there for … I can’t believe it… ten years! I started as an intern, and through a lot of twists and turns, found the job for me.

In my free time, obviously, I love to read. I like to paint my nails, go see movies, hang out with friends, AND my fiance and I have a boat that we spend 90% of our summer weekends on (he fishes, I read).

So those are some of the basics, but what I really want to talk about is some bookish facts about me! Sure, education, work, and leisure info is nice, but let’s get down and dirty.

Favorite Author: Matthew Reilly

My Dad actually picked up my first Matt Reilly book, Ice Station. He was travelling for work and found it in a local store and thought I would like it. Ever since, I’ve collected everything of his I could, and have been lucky enough to see him speak three times (which is quite a feat since he only just moved to the US a few years ago)! Plusss, I have a coworker in Australia that sends me the ANZ version as they release! They’re about 6 months ahead of the US, so you can imagine how much I love that!

Favorite Movie: A League of their Own

I’ve always been a softball player. Maybe because I’m not REALLY athletic, but I’m coordinated enough to hit and throw. Either way, I love the sport. And this movie just. rocks. Geena Davis, Rosie O’Donnell, MADONNA, Tom Hanks… come on. I could watch it over and over.

Fun Facts (because why not):

• I love Horror movies (the gorier the better!).
• I can type 100+ words a minute (depending on the day and how long my nails are).
• Favorite animal is the penguin – I especially love African Penguins, but do NOT care for Rockhopper’s (look them up, they just LOOK like jerks!).
• Favorite food is cake – seriously… just give me cake all the time.
• Favorite “mental health” activity is seeing a movie alone.
• In college I raised a seeing eye dog – his name was Leon and he lives in Cali now.
• I’ve been with my fiance for 13 years – 14 by the time we get married this summer!
• Some day I’d like to be a counselor.. Not sure what kind yet.
• I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii and Alaska.
